Our Canadian Centre, the Insurance & Liability Resource Centre for Nonprofits, has partnered with the United States' Nonprofit Risk Management Center (the creator of the software) to offer this special Canadian version of MRMP.

How is this version different than the original U.S. version? Other than a handful of additions to the content (which we will continue to make from time to time), most of our changes relate to differences in spelling, terminology (province instead of state), and law.

We believe Canadian nonprofits will find MRMP to be far more than just a risk management policy template. The wording in this software represents the compilation of over a decade of molding by the experts at the Nonprofit Risk Management Center, near Washington, D.C. In our opinion this organization's website (www.nonprofitrisk.org), books and materials are the gold standard for nonprofits needing assistance in the large world of risk management.

My Risk Management Plan (MRMP) is designed to assist you develop a risk management plan for your Canadian nonprofit or charity. It is a web-based software program that helps nonprofit leaders develop customized risk management plans for their organizations. Over 3000 organizations have purchased licenses to the original MRMP and the feedback we understand has been excellent.

Develop a custom plan - MRMP will help you develop a risk management plan that reflects your organization's needs, priorities and culture. Your final plan will consist of only those elements or sections you choose to feature. Throughout the program you will be offered the opportunity to either select from template language or draft or insert your own original language.

MRMP was developed with the understanding that every nonprofit has some risk management policies or activities already in place. What frustrates many leaders, however, is finding the time to organize existing risk management strategies and future plans into a document that reflects the organization's commitment to protecting assets needed for mission fulfillment. A growing number of national umbrella organizations, insurers and funders are asking nonprofits whether they have a risk management plan. This program is intended to help you demonstrate that your organization is committed to addressing the risks you face.
